Oh Captain, let us Persuade Them!

Persuasion by Jane Austen

In the words of Walt Whitman:

“O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,

The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won,

The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,”

But now I add:

“And married we, persuaded thee, finally us trusting.”

I don’t like Jane Austen, but the sincerity of this novel got me. Anne and the Captain. My heart ❤️.
